How much for a DJ?
Our pricing depends on numerous factors including: location, size of your event, timeframe, as well as what sort of equipment makes the most sense for your event. Our pricing can range anywhere from $600 - $1500. If you're interested in our services we are very quick to respond to quote requests, usually replying within the hour. Typically we offer a few different packages for our clients to choose from so we can work within various budget requirements.
Do you require a deposit?
Yes. We require 30% of your total price to reserve your date for DJs and 50% for bands. Our clients book in advance, so we turn down other work to hold a date. Because of this deposits are non-refundable if your cancellation is within 1 year of your event. Cancellations made over 1 year in advance are eligible for a refund.
Do you travel?
Yes. We've done shows across Alberta since 2002. Driving time and hotel costs are factored into pricing.
What kind of payment do you accept?
We can accept cash, cheque and email money transfers. We do accept AMEX, Master Card, VISA however, a 3.5% surcharge will apply to credit card transactions.
You can provide live music as well?
We can provide live music. Market Sound is strongly associated with the Edmonton music scene and can get you great rates on excellent talent. Please contact us if you want more information.
What makes your company different?
We're talented, approachable, fun people who like to throw a party and we're good at it. Owned and operated by an entertainer and music producer, our company is well equipped to tackle the latest trends in the music industry. We're not going to annoy you or ignore you, we will work to ensure that your experience is a memorable one.
Why shouldn't I hire you?
If you're looking for a DJ who's going to talk a lot, tell jokes or start impromptu games, we're probably not the best choice for you. That said, if you have a plan and need our help we are more than willing. All of our DJs are comfortable making announcements and love to have fun with the crowd, but we're not going to focus the attention on ourselves.
What kind of DJ gear do you use?
It all depends on what your needs are, our standard setup includes PA speakers ranging from 550-1400 watts, a pioneer DDJSX DJ controller, Sennheiser wireless microphone, and dance floor lighting. This setup looks and sounds great! Upgrades include hazer, sub woofer, mirror ball, GOBO, lasers, ... the list goes on. We are all technically trained DJs who are very comfortable with this sort of equipment so we will pair the most relevant gear with your needs.
Do you offer a projector screen?
Yes, we do! Contact us for a quote and we'll send you our upgrade options including a projector with screen.
Can you guys mix like DJs in the club?
Yes! Our DJs are actual DJs who love to mix music and engage a crowd. Some of us are stronger on the technical side than others, so we pair our clients with the most appropriate DJ depending on your requirements. Mixing music is an integral part of DJing, it increases the energy level on the dance floor and we feel it's important that our DJs show up with the skill to make people dance. We won't show up to your event and press play on a laptop, we engage a dance floor which means you'll have a great time.
What kind of music do you play?
We play it all! At Market Sound we design a custom playlist for each and every one of our clients, then we pair you with a DJ who best fits your needs. We have DJs who specialize in Top 40, Hip-Hop, EDM, Country, Rock and more. During our consultation we will cover your musical tastes, discuss any must play songs or artists, and find out what your expectations are. We will also define any boundaries if there are certain styles or songs you want to avoid. Our experience combined with the on-going communication we have with all of our clients, means your event will go smoothly.
For most events, we will play music from many different eras and styles throughout the evening. We also have that uncanny ability to play the song your forgot you loved from back in the day. We can get your grandma on the dance floor early in the evening, and your closest friends sweating on the dance floor a little later on. It's imperative that a DJ is flexible and can accommodate all genres and eras of music. All of our DJs fit the bill.
What are my responsibilities as a client?
We require that you provide a safe work environment. Belligerent guests will not be tolerated and we expect action if a guest is harassing one of our employee's. Clients will be responsible for replacement costs if a guest causes damage to any of our equipment.
We require access to power as well as a table to setup our DJ gear on. If you are having dinner at your function we request that our employee be fed unless alternative arrangements have been made.
